Well, gang, you know that the Extravaganza is getting close when you see pics, as above, of the annual Lower Sacramento float trip that veteran Extravaganzers Cam “Mend” Carlson, Scott “Crack” Mc Adams and John “SOS” Reimann and yours truly now report on. This past Friday, as tradition dictates, the fearsome foursome, with Elizabeth Spencer wine in hand, er cup holder (another tradition), trekked up and back to Redding, California, to tickle the fancies of 30+ rainbow trout, a small sampling of which is shown above. Unlike the pictures coming out of Montana, however, and perhaps reflective of lower California water conditions, our Lower Sacramento River fishing day yielded a gaggle of 12-18 inchers, with nothing of size other than the inability (again!) of “SOS” Reimann to land any fish at all (although he had multiple hookups!). He and his Crack fishing partner, however, did manage to open, drink and account for three bottles of primo wine between them, showing again why during the Extravaganza we allow no booze on Der Boats!!
I leave for Montana one week from tomorrow, all, so, yes, the blessed event is nigh upon us!!
